The currently unknown alt-rock artist Matt Hurley is really putting himself out there this year with a unique discography forming. While ‘Don’t Go’ was an ear-catching way to start summer 2019, ‘Moving On’ gets 2020 off to the biggest start possible. His interesting voice is what provides the catchy melodies we hear throughout, but it might well be the production that takes centre stage. Choppy overdriven guitars are woven in with subtlety (until the solo towards the end) while its left to a flurry of synths to create the wall of reverberating textures upon which Hurley’s voice sits. As his fanbase grows in numbers, make sure to keep an eye on these early releases. - Dan Peeke
